Regular Flying Lines contributor Frederico Cesquim of Sao Paulo, Brazil, built this beautiful Precision Aerobatics airplane as his first control-line project of 2026. He explains:

This is the world-famous KA-10, designed by the legendary designer and pilot Anatoliy Kolesnikov. This particular model was built for Michael Alimov, from Ohio, USA. Michael told me that having this airplane had been his childhood dream ever since he saw one in person back in the 1980s. He drew a set of accurate plans and sent me the old-school paper originals. From those plans, I cut and built the entire model myself.
The airplane is built entirely from balsa wood, with fully sheeted wings. The model is designed to come apart for transportation -- wings, tail and fuselage. The wheel pants are custom-made fiberglass units.
We agreed to follow the basic decoration concept created by Anatoliy, but Michael gave me the freedom to add some of my own ideas here and there, giving the airplane a more modern look while still making it recognizable as one of my builds. Electric power, carbon veil covering, lacquer paint and hand-drawn ink panel lines, as usual.
Michael came to Brazil for a short trip and returned home with the airplane in his luggage. We had a great time together here in Brazil, and I'm very happy to know that this airplane will soon be flying in America.
