Northwest Control-Line Competition Records

Northwest records listed below reflect the performance of Northwest-resident modelers in sanctioned competition. Records are compiled by Flying Lines. For more information, contact the editor.

The most recent updates to the records are:

  • Mike Hazel captured the Northwest record for NCLRA Super Slow Rat in a race in South El Monte, Calif., on Oct. 20, 2019, with a 100-lap time of 5:55. His time eclipsed the 6:05.89 record set by Todd Ryan in Eugene, Ore., on May 26, 2007.
  • Jim Booker set a new Northwest record for NASS Sport Jet Speed at the 2019 Northwest Control-Line Regionals with a speed of 148.21 mph. It eclipsed the record he set in at the 2018 Northwest Control-Line Regionals of 147.36.
  • Leighton Mangels established the Northwest Flying Clown feature race mark of 223 laps at the 2019 Northwest Control-Line Regionals. It was the first record under the new 60-foot lines rule and retired Mac Ryan's 2010 record of 345 laps, set on 52-foot lines.
