Groups of CL enthusiasts turned out on New
Year's Day for traditional fun-fly events that
celebrated the beginning of 2025 in Portland, Ore., and
in Richmond, B.C.
In Portland it was
Oregon Flying Fun No. 1, hosted by the Northwest Fireballs, which
was the first in a series of traditional Oregon winter
fun sessions. (See Where the
Action Is for details of the upcoming events.
In Richmond, fliers from
the Vancouver
Gas Model Club and Pacific Aeromodellers Club gathered
for the annual Polar Bear Fun Fly. See
report below.
Here are reports from the clubs on the
activities:

Fourteen people came out for
the event. Pictured are the planes and people present.
The picture of the lone person at left is Sam Baird, the
one who took the group photo.
We had a potluck lunch that included chili
dogs, potato salad, fried chicken and several desserts.
The weather, although chilly, was excellent for flying
and we had a good assortment of planes. Plenty of flying
and conversing.
A good time was had by all and we began
breaking up at about 2 p.m. I I hope we can do it
again next year.

B.C. Polar Bear
Fun Fly
By Chris Cox
We had approximately 15-18 VGMC and
PAC members participate at this years Polar
Bear Fun-Fly. We got very lucky and probably
had the nicest day to fly in the last several weeks.
Although a little chilly at 45°F, the winds
were light and really could not have been much
better!
