Members of the Western
Oregon Control-Line Flyers spent a beautiful fall
day flying at Bill Riegel Model Air Park in Salem, Ore.,
on Saturday, Nov. 8, amid multi-colored leaves from the
surrounding trees. Among the planes on hand was Jerry
Eichten's SV-11, which once campaigned on the Northwest
Precision Aerobatics circuit. Jerry reports that the plane
made its first flights in 20 years. The plane was built in
1997 from a Randy Smith kit and is powered by and O.S.
.40VF with a tuned pipe.
About the color scheme, Jerry says, "The unconventional
paint was my attempt at impressionism inspired by the
blue, white, and red of the French flag. My wife was a
French teacher who enjoys French impressionist painters. Jerry
