Combat Graffiti 2025
Control-line fliers and helpers gathered at the 2025 Combat Graffiti event in Mission, B.C.
The perpetual Canadian Graffiti Combat Contest was held at the Mission Wings flying field in Mission, British Columbia on July 6, 2025.

Turnout this year was low with only three flyers engaged in Graffiti Combat. Consequently, a lot of the day was spent flying Vintage Diesel Combat, telling extraordinary lies and teaching a young spectator from a visitor group to fly.
Food and drink were provided by the Mission Wings Model Flying Club and doughnuts and coffee were supplied by Tim Hortons.
Greg Davis brought his stunt finish Hotter ’n That, Mel Lyne used his slooooow VooDoo and Kelley Crozier decided everything else he had was too fast and flew a Sport Race Bonanza.
The pilots’ consensus was that Greg probably had the most overall cuts/kills in Graffiti and Kelley had the second-nicest airplane. Next year we may relax the rules to make it less serious.
Greg also had a match with a local bird of prey determined to chase his airplane from his territorial landscape. Fortunately, there were no cuts or kills.
Later, Greg flew his gorgeous, modified Stunt Rocket which failed to ROG, but had just enough power to fly from a hand launch. More nitro next time.
A 13-year-old victim was spotted with one of the spectator families and was tricked into standing in the center of one of the circles holding a DBat handle for one of Kelley’s airplanes.
After an initial few laps of terror, Mel Lyne took over the training and the young delinquent was doing loops and making soft landings.
Mmmmm…. We may have one more entrant next year.
Much fun was had in the DBat circle with lots of cuts and kills. Mel Lyne had a (temporary?) bout of insanity, believing he was flying F2D and flew through one of Kelley’s airplanes after a kill.
He kept mumbling something like “I thought I was ahead on points,” while he was looking at his watch.
Other sport fliers also enjoyed the perfect day, putting up many flights with their sport and stunt airplanes.
Every flier and support person who was present at the end of the day received a coveted "2025 Canadian Graffiti Contest” T-shirt with a photo of Nigel Tarvin’s gorgeous Werewolf emblazoned on the front. See photo of original airplane below.
