It was a very nice day with
pleasant temperatures and light wind that saw several
members of the Western Oregon Control Line Flyers gather
for flying and socializing at the former Bill Riegel Model
Air Park.
Although the field is no longer officially a model plane
venue, the airport manager has allowed local modelers to
utilize the facility on an informal basis while the paved
circle still exists. And that may not be much longer —
although no actual schedule has been made, the circle will
supposedly be demolished by later summer.
WOLF members attending the session were: Craig Bartlett,
Mark Crouse, Jim Corbett, Don Dotter, Jerry Eichten, Mike
Hazel and Gary Weems. Bruce Tunberg from McMinnville also
showed up as did Northwest Fireballs Sam Baird and Doug
Powers.
The usual variety of stunt and sport planes were flown.
Jerry surprised everyone when he did an inverted crash
landing with his 25-year old Buccaneer stunt ship. He said
that the wrong control handle was used or something like
that.
Perhaps another session will be put together before the
pavement disappears.
