Roseburg flying field gets a takeoff strip"Great things are happening in Roseburg at our flying field," says Terry Mitchell, one of the Roseburg, Ore., control-line modelers who reguarly fly at Church on the Rise. The church has allowed development of a flying site at a former ballfield that is part of the church property. See details and directions to the site in NW CL Flying Fields. Recently the fliers convened a work day to install a new rubber takeoff strip on the grass circle. The strip greatly improves the takeoff conditions by replacing the formerly gravel takeoff strip. Mitchell took some pictures to document the site improvement work. Chris Nicholls grades the takeoff area with a loader, as Mark Schluter stands by. The finished takeoff strip. Some planes await action. Fliers wait for flying to begin after the upgrade: From left, Bill Mix, Bob Lewis and Dave Shrum. NW CL Flying FieldsFlying Lines home pageThis page was upated Aug. 18, 2023
