Northwest Summer Speed

June 29-30, 2013, Bill Riegel Model Airpark, Salem, Ore.

By Mike Hazel, contest director

Hot weather greeted a somewhat light turnout of NW speed fliers this year.  The main action focused on the new NW B Proto event, and Sport Jet event, with three entries each and lots of test flying and new records in also in each.  Jim Booker put up several test flights switching between the NASS and Northwest regulation sport jet lines, and proved that the drag differential is almost nonexistent.
