2014 Salem Speed and Racing

Oct. 11-12, Bill Riegel Model Airpark, Salem, Ore.

By Mike Hazel, contest director

Despite the beautiful weather and the last chance for some contest action this calendar year, turnout for this go-fast fest was very light.  The no-shows well outnumbered those who did take advantage of this flying opportunity.

On Saturday the racing events were run.  Due to the low turnout we opted to do solo racing.  This was easier on the participants and equipment, plus we were short on bodies to help time anyway. After the racing was done then some speed testing got underway.  The official speed flying took place on Sunday, with again a very light turnout.
