Many of us have come to depend on Flying Lines for news of our hobby in the Northwest -- since 1979 in the printed newsletter, and now online. Many also have enjoyed sharing their knowledge and news with others via FL.
But here's something else to think about: The Flying Lines web site also could be a great resource in promoting and growing our hobby.
The FL web site is visible to everyone with a computer, whether they are currently active CL fliers or past subscribers to the newsletter -- whether they are competitors or casual sport fliers, AMA members or not, club members or not, etc.
We've all heard that "CL is dead." I first heard this when I returned to the hobby in 1976. They're still saying it. Those of us active in the hobby know it is most assuredly not dead.
And the FL web site is a great way to spread that understanding: CL building and flying is alive and well in the Pacific Northwest as well as in the world, and this web site is here to tell you about.
Why am I making this point?
Because, if you haven't yet found a way to contribute to the FL web site, maybe this will give you another reason.
Submit your technical articles, favorite plane photos, club news, classified ads, flying activity reports, calendar items -- anything that will spread the word about control-line model aviation in the region.
People will find this web site. We're constantly trying to let people know about it and updating it daily so that people will make the web site a regular stop on their web surfing itinerary. And it will show up on web searches. And, of course, you can spread the word about it.
And, if we all work together to make the FL web site a real showcase of Northwest control-line model aviation, the hobby will grow.
And that's good for all of us in the hobby.
