The blue background shows just how nice the weather was for the 2009 R.F. Stevenson Memorial Raider Roundup in Chehalis, Wash. That's Keith Varley's Old-Time Stunt DeBolt Stuntwagon in an official flight. Flying Lines photo.
The 2009 Raider Roundup at Chehalis-Centralia Airport was a delightful fall stunt and combat competition, with both circles going constantly for the two days. The Northwest Skyraiders sponsored the event, which offered a full stunt schedule and three combat events.
Contest Director Bill Darkow reports that total entries were down to 26 individuals from 31 the previous year. This was partly because only two showed up to fly Navy Carrier and decided not to set up the deck for such a small entry. Those who did attend had a great time and saw some excellent stunt flights and combat matches.
One highlight was the good turnout for Old-Time Stunt, with eight names on the board. This event has been down in entries in recent years.
Jeff Rein won the "Crock Pot Award," a cash prize, for the person scoring best in the most event categories.
"The highlight of the meet -- to me -- was that we had three entrants in PA Beginner who made all their flights and kept their models whole," Darkow commented.
Here are the results. Northwest standings points in parentheses.
