Oregon Flying Fun No. 4 --2023Southern Oregon fliers join annual fun-fly seriesJune 17, 2023, Eagle Point, Ore.The Oregon Flying Fun series of one-day events, which annually starts off with a New Year's Day session in Portland, ended this year with a gathering at the Rogue Eagles RC club's control-line circle in Eagle Point, Ore., a new venue for Northwest CL flying. Here's a report on the event from host Jess Walls: We had a good turnout for our Fun Fly! Seventeen people came by to hang out, talk control line and eat hot dogs. Ten people actually flew. At 8a.m. there was nearly no wind (or people), but both increased as the day progressed. From 9 a.m. to noon we got quite busy with flights by planes from 1/2A sport to expert Stunt. We had at least five planes with throttle control out of the 15 or so present. Most were Navy Carrier types. We even had one Bi-Slob! The wind after 1 p.m. got rowdy and caused a couple of smaller planes to crash. Most people were age 65 or older. About half were local to Medford, the rest came from elsewhere in Oregon, including the Roseburg area. We all enjoyed lunch together thanks to Walter Hicks and my wife, Pat Dillman. We had a prize/give away table that was loaded with modeling stuff and everyone went away happy! Oregon Flying Fun No. 4 photo galleryJess Walls takes off his Bi-Slob, launched by Chris Nicholls.
